Creating Effective Color Schemes |
Those of us that do not have a art background and have difficulty making good color schemes can help them selves by going to a different number of that are about artists. By looking at the art work and studying it, you can see different "views" on how different artists' used different colors and you can use those ideas too. |
A) Different people have different views on the same color. For
example yellow, we may think of it as a "calm" color, while a group of
medical surgeons may remind them of a jaundice!
People who live in warm climates prefer strong, bright colors, while people who live in colder climates might prefer blue or "darker" colors. If someone went on a vacation, someone from a cold climate might prefer somewhere warm, so if you made a website for a vacation to a warm spot, you want to have bright colors ro show that it is warm and it might appeal to them. |
A) Widening a Sites Appeal- Increasing saturation can widen a sites appeal. |
B) Projecting a Quality image- Reducing saturation can give a "warming" effect. |
C) Making a Site Friendlier and More Approachable- If you use blue in web-page as the main color for a business, you might want to use red or yellow to give it a warm feeling, so you can balance everything out. |
Practicalities of color on the web |
A) Web-Safe Color- Before you publish your web, you might want to go over your different colors and maybe change some around and experiment so you are satisfied with the colors you have. |
B) Low Color Vision- You might want to be careful of what colors you use to create your web, because some people are color blind (most commonly) from red and green. So if you have a web that is all red and green, those people will have some problems. |
Conclusion |
Take a look at your site. What colors are there? What are they "telling" you about your site before you read it? Is it friendly, or rejecting? You might want to change it. So good luck with your web! |
